The term ''''Warbird'''' typically refers to vintage military aircraft that have since been retired from active roles in their country of origin. Typically, these aircraft include those from World War I, the Inter-War Years, World War II, the Korean War, and up to the late 1950s. These aircraft are oftentimes the only pieces left of an era long past and are critical to our understanding of the past. That is why it is so important to preserve them before they fade into history.

* Remember this page is the most public face of the wiki - test edits are best done on a separate page.

* Sections within "<! --" and "-- >" markers (without the spaces) - like this entire section - are hidden comments, and can be separated by several lines. Be sure not to break them.

* We strongly recommend you do not change the <mainpage-leftcolumn-start /> style tags - these keep your page format safe from unexpected breaks - the left column is first, followed by the right column. See http://help.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Main_page_column_tags for more info.

The Warbirds Wiki is a site dedicated to providing information about historic aircraft commonly known as 'Warbirds' such as where these aircraft served, what was their fate, and where they are now. Our goal is to let people around the world discover for themselves the stories of some of the world's greatest aircraft. For more information on us, refer to About page. Feel free to help us expand our information, but please try to read our editing policies and guidelines first. These can be found at the top of the wiki Navigation Bar. Thank You

What is a 'Warbird' and why are they important?

The term 'Warbird' typically refers to vintage military aircraft that have since been retired from active roles in their country of origin. Typically, these aircraft include those from World War I, the Inter-War Years, World War II, the Korean War, and up to the late 1950s. These aircraft are oftentimes the only pieces left of an era long past and are critical to our understanding of the past. That is why it is so important to preserve them before they fade into history.
